About Me
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Washington, and I provide in person counseling in Vancouver, WA and/or online counseling for Washington residents. I am also an Approved Supervisor in Washington for the LMHC credential.
My approach to therapy is trauma informed, gentle, compassionate and empathetic. I tend to be direct, yet kind, and work to create a warm atmosphere where you feel welcome and comfortable to be your authentic self. I also like to laugh a lot and have fun. We can bring some levity to the heavy experiences. It’s important to me that you feel respected, seen, heard and held. I believe it is a sign of strength to ask for help, and I am truly glad you’re here.
I have experience treating a wide variety of mental health concerns including anxiety and depression, postpartum mood and anxiety disorders, navigating boundaries, family of origin issues, life transitions and mental health concerns that plague highly sensitive people, etc. I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and am Health At Every Size (HAES) aligned.
I’m also passionate about personal growth and human dignity no matter race, gender identity, religious beliefs, creed or economic status. I strive to keep myself humble with ongoing ethical, cultural and evidenced-based education all while doing my own personal growth work.
I recognize the amount of strength it takes to commit to counseling and believe that each person has everything inside themselves to make it through the “why can’t I” and create a life worth living.
Training and Background
I received my Master of Arts in Counseling from Multnomah University and my bachelor’s degrees in political science, and journalism and communication, with an emphasis in public relations from the University of Oregon. (Go Ducks!)
I have worked in inpatient and outpatient community mental health, outpatient group practice settings and private practice counseling. I draw from a variety of therapeutic techniques in therapy focusing on mind-body connection through research-proven cognitive-behavioral therapy, Client-Centered, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) with current interest in Internal Family Systems. My approach is tailored to each client individually as I recognize that each person’s experiences are uniquely theirs.
