Services and Specialties
Individual Counseling
Supporting individuals 16 years and older in collaboration to meet your goals. I also treat other therapists and those in healthcare related fields.
Clinical Supervision and Consultation
I am a Washington State approved supervisor for clinicians pursuing their LMHC credential. I also offer consultation for clinicians wanting to deepen clinical skills and knowledge, especially as related to one of my specialties.
Highly Sensitive People
According to Dr. Elaine Aron, highly sensitive people (HSPs) make up 15- 20% of the population. While not a disorder, it is a unique personality trait that increases sensory processing sensitivity. If this is you, you have probably been called “too sensitive” at some point in your life. I’m here to tell you that you are not a problem to be solved. I work with highly sensitive people to help them thrive and increase in acceptance of who they are and what they need.
Identifying as a HSP myself, I know some of the unique challenges, strengths and joys that are unique to this trait. I offer individual mental health counseling to help adults learn regulation techniques for their unique nervous systems. I also offer parenting support for people parenting while sensitive and/or parenting a highly sensitive child.
Anxiety
Are you plagued by constant worry or dread? Thinking the worst might happen in every situation? Chances are you may have anxiety. Anxiety can make you feel trapped, stuck and very unsure of how to move forward in life. It can also hold you back from socializing, making decisions and increase all or nothing thinking.. If you or someone you know is suffering from anxiety, there is hope. My work with clients centers from reconnecting the body and mind, focusing on what is within one’s control, acceptance, and letting go.
Life Transitions
Life transitions are changes that have a big impact. They can be changes such as divorce, a move, starting a new job, etc. These transitions can be overwhelming and require new and different coping than previous strategies. I offer a place to slow down, sort it out and let go of what needs to be let go of.
Postpartum Distress
The transition to parenthood can be challenging. It can be filled with anxiety, fears, scary thoughts and changing hormones all while on a steep learning curve. Often new parents can receive pushback on their choices, feel shamed and experience self-doubt and lack of confidence in their abilities to parent. Other times adverse experiences from your own childhood can come up making it difficult to be present with your children. You might find yourself in some patterns that you desperately want to change, but you don’t always know how. All of this on top of a changing identity. Phew, it’s a lot. I not only have lived experience of postpartum anxiety and the experience of recovery, but also advanced training to help you work to recovery. I can work with you to help you be the parent you want to be, let go of societal expectations/perceived norms and find strength and confidence in your unique parenting and self. My approach to this is eclectic drawing from CBT, strengths-based counseling, value-based living, Internal Family Systems and EMDR.
